Cultivation FAQ

Short answers to the growing questions that come up most. For full walkthroughs, follow the links to the grow guides and the topic pages below.

Starting out

What should a first grow use? A small, simple setup with good airflow and a light you can adjust beats a large complicated one. How many plants fit a tent? Fewer than you think at seedling size: plan for full-grown plants, not starters. Do I need special soil? Any well-draining growing medium works to start; the growing mediums page compares the options.

Feeding and watering

How often should I water? When the top of the medium dries out, not on a fixed calendar. How much should I feed? Start light and increase slowly; overfeeding causes more beginner problems than underfeeding. Why are leaves yellowing? That has many causes, from watering to nutrients to pests, so check the plant health page before changing everything at once.

Harvest and curing

When is a plant ready to harvest? Watch the buds and trichomes mature rather than counting calendar days alone. How long does curing take? A slow cure over several weeks, with jars opened briefly at first, protects flavor and smoothness far better than rushing it. Full steps are on the harvesting and curing page.
